I just watched a TED Talk from Rachel Botsman talk titled, We’ve Stopped Trusting Institutions and Started Trusting Strangers.
She argues that technology and services are allowing us to take a trust leap- when we take a risk to do something different from the way we’ve always done it. Moving from what you know to doing or trying something unknown, requires trust.
Rachel defines trust as a confidant relationship with the unknown- but to get there we have to climb what she calls the Trust Stack:
We trust the idea
We trust the platform
We trust the user
She concludes the talk reflecting on what builds and breaks trust with our employees, customers, and the other people around us.
