SEMrush recently released a study titled, “The Anatomy of Top Performing Articles: Successful vs. Invisible Content” – this article is awesome and I’m sharing some of their key findings to make you want to read it yourself.
Today, I’m sharing this bit about articles with list headlines:
Articles with list headlines (those that start with a number like “__ things…”, “__ ways…”, etc.) get 2x more traffic and 2x more social shares than other types, followed by guides and “how-to” articles.
I’ve played around with this format. I like that it sets expectations for your audience. Yes, it can be abused, but it can work when used well.
